                               Castaway Kids Meeting
                             April 14, 2008

The meeting was held at the Kalmbach’s home with the following members present:
Mark Mulligan, Susan Schauf, Jim Bomberg, Pam Brame, Dave Kielholtz, Rob Vanderford,
Lauriann Atlee, Jackie Van de Bovenkamp, Pete Spencer, Sam Dougherty, Erindira Morales, and
Larry & Maris Kalmbach.

Susan Schauf, called the meeting to order at 10:07a.m.

Old Business:  A date has been set for the Castaway Kids Fatima park dedication to be held on
Sunday, May 4th at 10:30 am.   Chuck Kaufman $ Pam Brame will do the photography.  Mark
Mulligan will convey to the pastor at the local church time and place.  Thanks go to Pete Spencer
who will get 150 drinks and bags of munchies to hand out to the kids present.  Invitations will go to
the three ladies in Fatima who generously helped the volunteers during the park renovations.  A
lovely lady who just happens to be Marks mother-in-law living in the neighborhood made meals for
the volunteers.  Two other ladies living across from the park allowed the men to use their electricity
for cutting and welding machines.  Big Thanks to the Art League (
Liga de Arte)for their many hours of
painting the concrete and giving the park the final touches before the dedication.

Dave Kielholtz reported the final sum of $1155 was spent on the park.  He also gave estimates for a
fence and Ramada (cover), which at this time are cost prohibitive and will be tabled.  Mark Mulligan
will leave paint with a young man by the name of Arthur Guadalupe.  He helped with the painting of
the park and wants to continue painting when the graffiti gets out of hand.

Once again gracious thanks to Erindira Morales and Lupita Valenzuela for their expertise and
donated time to attain the Mexican non-profit corporation status.  We have been given our RFC which
in Mexico is similar to the tax ID we get in the US.  Mexican law requires a board member who sits on
a Mexican non-profit corporation have particular enhancements re: they’re working FM3’s. The
members of the Castaway Kids voted to have the expense of $180.00 per board member paid by the
club.  Erindira will take care of the FM3 enhancements for each board member.

Mark Mulligan informed the group that he has followed the many steps required to be able to see the
City officials of Guaymas.  He hopes to be able to speak with the Mayor of Guaymas before the end
of April.  At such time he will present the desires of the Castaway Kids regarding acquiring land in
Fatima for our next project the Community Center.

New Business:  Now with the proper status regarding the Mexican non-profit corporation the club
must set up our bank account in Mexico.  Treasurer, Pete Spencer and Mark Mulligan will go to the
local Banamex bank to establish our account.  It has been determined by the club we will have three
persons on the account due to availability.  Pam Brame, Mark Mulligan and Pete Spencer will be on
the account.  The account is set up with no more than a thousand dollar withdrawal unless there are
two signatures.  Pam Brame and Susan Schauf are the web masters for Castaway Kids and have put
an inordinate amount of time regarding updating the website.  We now have a new website address.
Castawaykidsmx.org.   Thank you ladies….

The memorial page on the website has recently received numerous donations.  Maggy Murray
requested donations be sent to the Castaway Kids in memory of her late husband Bill Murray.
Friends and family of Flint English also have made generous donations.  The Castaway Kids
graciously thank all those who have made gifts of money on the behalf of they’re loved ones.

Christmas Party Committees:  Pete Spencer will check on the place to hold the 2008 party and once
again will donate the expense of the buses.  The dates will be unofficially Dec.7 or Dec. 14th.
Once again Doug & Carla Marshall will donate the food.  Loriann Atlee will be the Christmas gift
chairperson and the ages will be 0-12.

The club will continue to give school supplies. If anyone wants to help Lauriann please send her an
e-mail.  Lauriann Atlee’s e-mail is the following:
alohaatlee@yahoo.com
Becky Lupo and Donna Malcolm are also volunteers for the Christmas party.   This is our last
meeting until fall.  It is our goal this next year we have more items brought down for the party by all
the volunteers and friends of the Castaway Kids versus trying to get a car load here at the last
minute.  If anyone has questions about the Christmas party please send me an e-mail.

Have a great summer and for those who are leaving be safe and hurry back next season.

Respectfully,
